This new requirement aims to make the verification of returned saleable goods a more efficient process using a Verification Router Service. Returning substandard or flat-out counterfeit medicine back to the manufacturer while gaining a 100 percent profit has been an ongoing issue for the pharma supply chain. This mandate is the DSCSA’s plan of attack to stop this criminal activity, keep companies from losing money and ultimately protect patients.
Systech played a key role in developing the standards, messaging and proposed interoperability between VRS systems with the HDA consortium as well as GS1. In other words, Systech helped design what the VRS technology for the upcoming mandate would look and feel like.
